Earl, 1958; interior designer, Miles Redd). Enjoy lunch on the expansive lawn of the Decter/Simon residence, designed by Howard Frank (1959), featuring Trousdale’s only known natural spring.

2440 Neutra Place
Los Angeles, CA 90039
Dion Neutra – dion@neutra.org
2:00pm to 4:00pm.
Purchase tickets – More information

The Dion Neutra/Reunion House is the only example of a firm designed project on which both father and son worked, but not concurrently. The house was envisioned in 1950, as a hypothetical “grandparent’s house” where family reunions would be held. The senior Neutras lived in it for two years starting in 1964. From 1966 on, it has been the home of Dion Neutra. In 1968, he added an apartment above the garage; 2440A. It is the most private of all the homes in the Neutra Colony; in addition to a selected glimpse of the lake, it is hidden in a forest of trees and ponds, creating an amazing tranquil setting, while masking the undesirable aspects which used to be seen on the street. It was decided to pick some dates, to allow the public to experience another Neutra Interior. Opportunities to purchase select Neutra Books is also contemplated on these occasions.

“New Architecture Los Angeles”
Hennessey + Ingalls
300 S. Santa Fe Ave., Suite M
Los Angeles, CA 90013
4:00pm to 6:00pm   For More Information

This exhilarating and richly illustrated guide to Los Angeles’s most exciting new buildings establishes the city as a mecca for forward-thinking and environmentally conscious architecture.  Some of the world’s leading architects are making their mark on Los Angeles’s cityscape with exciting and innovative projects. Fifty of the most striking buildings are profiled in this book that features every type of architecture–houses, municipal structures, art museums, office buildings, performance spaces, and houses of worship. Some of the world’s leading design firms, including Diller Scofidio + Renfro, Eric Owen Moss Architects, Selldorf Architects, and wHY Architecture, have contributed to the city’s structural vernacular.

While the projects here are as varied as the luminous Walt Disney Concert Hall by Gehry Partners and Bestor Architecture’s compact housing development named “Blackbirds,” each building embraces an unmistakably Californian aesthetic re-imagined for a new century. With original photography, this is the first book to focus on the surge of creative building that has taken place in Los Angeles in the new millennium.
